About Rope Access

A method of work positioning known as “rope access” makes use of tools and techniques that have been developed for the climbing and caving industries. Many businesses, as well as the HSE, now view rope access as a competitive substitute for scaffolding and other more conventional means of access.
Rope access is primarily used to allow workers to access regions that are difficult to reach without the use of scaffolding, cradles, or aerial platforms.

With the use of ropes and, occasionally, a rope access work seat, a rope access technician can descend, ascend, or traverse ropes while being secured in place by a harness. The 1980s saw the introduction of rope access for industrial tasks. Trade organisations such as the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) and the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) have since formalised it and turned it into a tried-and-true technique for enabling workers to access difficult-to-reach areas.

Our Core Values
